BLET & UP reach Tentative Agreement

Well, sort of . . .

As previously mentioned here, the BLET and UP have been in prolonged contract negotiation regarding the Engineer's Collective Bargaining Agreement. It was announded today by the BLET General Committees that they have notified the UP that the railroad's contract proposals are unacceptable, and the BLET wishes to accept the terms of the National Agreement as determined by last year's Presidental Emergency Board.

Assuming that UP is agreeable to this, a new Tentative Agreement will be mailed to BLET members on the UP for their vote.

The General Committees issued a letter today explaining their decision. It quotes some of the outrageous proposals that the railroad was insisting upon. Unforunately, it's in the .pdf format and I haven'e been able to figure out how to convert it so it can be posted here.
