I think WINTERAIL is great where it is, Vic Neves and the "Roadies" do a bang up job to keep the shows moving. Evan Werkema is exceptional at being Chief Projectionist.
The year 2010 was my very first WINTERAIL ever. I went overboard. Vic let me be a Presenter on Saturday (2nd Show slot); I ran historic films at Pizza Night; AND, I was selling stuff in that little back room as far as misc railroadiana is concerned. Made pretty good money too--
I was really surprised.
However, 2011 was a total disaster. After traveling over 900 miles and spending considerable money to show a new batch of historic films at Pizza Night--I was cut short and denied the chance. To professionaly create the DVD I wanted to share cost me $ 300.00 ! There was absolutely no excuse to be treated this way.
Also, the railroadiana show contingent that had to be in that "back room" again was absolutely "poor planning" and organization by Cheryl Meeker.....
Compared to 2010 and other years, Cheryl took ALL or most of the VIDEO DEALERS and crammed us "tight" into that stupid little room. You couldn't turn around in your chair-you were right up against someone's back. That was NUTS and uncalled for!! We all paid a big enough FEE to participate which seems to grow each year.
Now, before you cats start flaming ME, check with everyone else in that room who have been coming for years. They were very upset too.
What Cheryl SHOULD have done, would have been to scatter all the video dealers all over the place thruout the total show area.. Otherwise, besides being uncomfortable, we would up competing for sales against each other. I will, however, give Cheryl a lot of credit-- it is a big job to put on a show of this magnitude. Thank you.
