The bright green REA car which has been sitting in the middle of the rec trail in Monterey (formerly the old ROW) as a visitor center is being moved to the area next to the Salinas depot and model railroad building (former REA building) next week. It will join the loco, reefer and boxcar already on the property and well protected by a cyclone fence. The car hasn't been used as a visitor center for ages and will be a nice addition to the collection in Salinas. BTW, during the annual Steinbeck Festival May 3-6, the model railroad people will be hosting an exhibit "Hobos on the Rails" since the festival this year is partnering with the Guthrie family to celebrate Woodie's centennial.
Carl and I will probably be volunteering at the railroad building.

PS--someone pm'ed me and asked what engine----it is the SP 1237 0-6-0. I haven't been there for a couple of years but there also used to be a caboose and it didn't appear in the KSBW piece last night and I don't know what will happen to that.
