They were inspected by the U.P. at the Mt Shasta Jct. (CA) prior to being picked up by the U.P.
Then they were hauled over the Cascades all the way to Portland before being B.O.'d. I can't help but wonder if some new U.P. recruit car inspector was "overwhelmed" by the years on these old heavy weights and figured there "had to be something wrong with them?"
But they were inspected and passed that inspection before the U.P. picked them up at Mt. Shasta.
I have no idea of the status as of this time because U.P. was incommunicative after they were bad ordered. They may have said a small prayer over them, cut them out and buried them on a RIP track in the boonies for all I know. I do know that they will probably never make it to Idaho in time.
