Ken:
I'm not making the argument that the speeds will be reduced, just suggested that it might be possibility.
Let me point out a couple of differences between Puyallup and South Tacoma, which could possibly result in lower speeds. 1) The railroad will not be owned or operated by BNSF, but rather Sound Transit. They are far more likely to yield to public pressure than an established common carrier like BNSF. 2) this is single track, with development (buildings, numerous grade crossings, etc.) much closer in than most of Puyallup ( Meridian area being a notable exception). Those trains are going to appear much faster to the general public along Lakewood and South Tacoma.
Again, I'm not making the argument it's going to happen, just think there's a better chance than the Puyallup area.
