The Trail Crowd in Willits promotes "rails with trails," and they could very well get this. At least they aren't trying to fabricate opposition (where there currently is none), so I'd say their chances are much higher than the ones in Humboldt, who see us railfans/THA as their opponents. If the north end winds up abandoned, the real opponents to trails will be the land owners and the then newly disgruntled railfans, such as myself. This is a "We will help you get your trail, just put it next to our tracks" situation. Why would we help them if they take away what we want? We would then have a reason to oppose them, if these fools actually make NCRA cave in to their unreasonable demands of trail only/rail bank the whole line to Willits, or where exactly? To the middle of nowhere, also known as Humboldt's back roads? Mr. Williams over at NWP may have something to say about rail banking south of Island Mountain, since he plans to ship gravel south outta there.
