Portland and Western Activity 8/10 + 8/11

I am not one to ever complain about our favorite industry doing well, but sometimes one wonders about the inner workings.

Yesterday evening into today (now at 6:12 AM), I have heard no less than what seems to have been at least 8 trains rumbling through Hillsboro (OR) off the west ends of T.V. Highway.

I have lived in this home for two years now and have never heard this type of volume of traffic before.

Does anyone have any insight of what is happening? Is there crew training on the line? Is there some sort of re-route going on? Construction that requires lots of movements? Passenger specials (grin)?
