Only a 20 minute wait for Gold Line (LA) after 8? Wow! Wish our Sacramento LR service was that good at rush hour! 30-minute headways to Folsom, 15-minute to Sunrise until 6:30 PM, assuming nothing goes wrong (something messes up the service at least once a week) then none to Folsom and 30 minutes to Sunrise until about 11:30. Nothing to Meadowview after about 11 PM. Be careful what you wish for...it could get worse.
In the Olde Dayze, SF had "owl" service on a few (VERY few) key lines using regular buses, about once an hour all night. Streetcars, though, shut down before midnight. Wonder how many people actually rode the all-nighters for anything other than a place to sleep? And remember, that was in a compact city of about 3/4 million people at a time when many people couldn't afford cars. You won't find those conditions many places, especially in a nice suburban town like Davis!
Bottom line - you can't force transit to run when there's no traffic. Gotta pay the bills.
