Timetables/schedules can be intersting reading.

For example, each station stop adds about a minute to the overall end-to-end time.

A friend once asked why one SJ-SF train took (about a minute) longer going between two stations than the one before it and the one after it. Analyzing the schedule showed that a SF-SJ train was scheduled to be at the second station just when the SJ-SF train might have been expected to be there.
