Remaining bastion of colored barcodes ?

Well after the railroads had given up on them, I saw them in use on WMATA's Metrorail.
Where, of course, the drive-thru car washers kept them readable.
Report from a recent visitor to Washington D.C., please.
Aesthetically, they really didn't belong on the stainless cars - in my opinion.
