Hey Gary--
Is that "Jim BUGS Bruggere"?? I remember him from over forty years ago at Rio Vista Junction.
HE and the late Dick Reynolds were responsible for the restoration and operation of Nevada Copper Belt # 21 (Hallscott) motor car, the "Yerington"... Formerly owned by BAERA but now in custody of CSRM...

When the first electric cars arrived at the Museum at RVJ between 1960 and 1966, the Museum used a portable generator mounted on a flatbed truck to provide power to the cars using a long cable and alligator clip, as there was no overhead wire installed yet.
The generator only produced 300 volts DC. "BUGS" Bruggere and a gentleman whose last name was "Anderson" were the providers of that truck and generator to "get things moving"...

Because of that fact, the rig was affectionately referred to by the members as the "" BAP "" ...
(Bruggere--Anderson Power)...

Jim Bruggere is also one of maybe only TWO or three individuals who know how to operate Nevada Copper Belt # 21 (The Yerington).. It has a complex gear shifting mechanism... Tom Irion stated it has been known to go 70 mph pulling 25 cars. You have to see it and hear it and then make your own opinions.

Jim Bruggere is featured on the SN DVD I produced last year-- operating the NCB # 21 on the Sacramento Northern mainline between Montezuma and Libfarm via RVJ and Dozier..
Glad to hear he is still alive and with us.
