The CA department of fish and game is fixing the break in the levee right now. I was up at Wingo on the weekend of Oct 13-14 and saw the staging platform/dock that they built by the old station site to load equipment onto barges to start fixing the levee. There was a big crane on the dock that was used to assemble two barges, one with a ditcher on it and the other was empty (maybe for hauling fill?). It seems to be a fairly elaborate operation. It's kind of funny. The farmers up there have repaired levees lots of times without having to get such an elaborate operation going. They would drive down the levee, drop big boulders around it and fill in using dredged material from the bottom of the slough. It always ended up being a good spot to fish after they were done.
