Hi Mary,
Thanks for reaching out. One of the reasons I enjoy living in the County is the rich railroad history along with Roaring Camp and the Santa Cruz Branch Line. It is always good to hear about youth taking an interest in railroads.
The last three years were a great opportunity for me to observe a unique operation and meet interesting and talented people working for the rail line operator and County residence living along the line. I think I was able to capture every aspect of the operation and my wife and I were able to explore parts of the County we would have never thought of venturing into. Who knew you could have so much fun in your own backyard. Exploring the County and chasing the train was like being a child again and the educational aspects were very enriching.
Below are links to some threads I started on the West Coast Rail Forums about operations on the Santa Cruz Branch Line.
