Read Mr. Gier's full editorial. Once again we have someone that believes that if China doesn't get this coal they won't burn any. Using Powder River coal is an effort on China's part to get cleaner burning coal. If they can't get it, they will continue burning the rotten crap they have in their own country that is many times more harmful to the enviroment. He claims in his editorial that the pollution blows towards the northwest US and we get it, you would think he would want it made cleaner. He also claims in his editorial that people of Spokane have higher cancer rates from breathing locomotive exhaust, but makes no mention of all the big rigs on I-90 that pollute far more----pollution that would be greatly reduced by moving those trucks by train. If the anti-coal people are representative of the accuracy of enviromental information then I have no faith at all in the enviromental movement any more.
