This all sounds somewhat "out there" in terms of coming to fruition. Tacoma Rail is a municipally owned utility. The Tacoma City Council will have some say in where investment is made in infrastructure, and would be looking for rate of return on investment. Even upgrading to 25mph track would require millions of $$, and I suspect would need strong freight traffic to justify. Maybe the National Park Service could be a partner in upgrading the Park Jct.-Ashford segment, but NPS can't get enough money from Congress to even maintain the parks. So let's wait until February! Hope springs, if not eternal...
