Those were early Mohawks, from the late twenties, I believe, with a switcher type pilot in front. I saw several on them in the roundhouse in Cincinnati in the summer of 1958. Outside was a scrap line of 0-80's and 2-8-2's.

I understand the NYC Niagara's suffered from premature boiler failure due to high carbon steel being used. None of the roads in the east, save the Nickel Plate, saved much of anything. Erie, B&O, Pennsy. No T-1's, for instance.

Did any of the NdeM northerns survive? They were supposed to be somewhat akin to those of the NYC.
