On a union job there is a welder who is experienced in his field. The union makes the contractor hire a union flunkie to turn the welder on at work time and turn it off at lunch, back on after lunch and off again at quitting time. This flunkie sits on his/her butt all day doing nothing except flipping a switch. This is pure waste as the welder(man/woman) can walk over to the welding machine and turn it on or off. This makes the job cost more; which makes the end user pay more when a monkey could be trained to do the same job and could be paid with peanuts.
The point is that education, manufacturing, construction and the post office are messed up not by incompetent workers but by greedy union scum who only care about themselves.
A plant that made auto parts in my hometown closed because a few employees wanted a union and the large company (from Michigan) said it was better to close the plant because with the bad economy and the low profit margins; a union would kill the company if it was forced to be a union operation. Several hundred people lost their jobs and the buildings stand empty. This plant closing occured because a few idiots convinced their fellow employees they needed a union. The hardworking employees were the losers. This plant had been a major supplier to both GM and Chrysler. As a non-union plant many families had enjoyed an above average wage and excellent benefits but greed killed the whole operation
