Sacramento just got $135 million approved to extend the South (Blue) Line about about 4 1/2 miles. Call if 4 miles in round numbers. Some local money has already gone into it for early construction so call the total around $160 million for easy calculation. That's $40 million/mile. Even if the total ends up around $200 million that's $50 million/mile. That includes 2 large bridges, 4 stations including one (at the college end) that's pretty well gold-plated, a good bit of road reconstruction, and 1/2 of a 5-story parking garage (the college district is paying the other 1/2 and will use it for student parking too).
