Amtrak status shows #6 leaving Roseville about 5 hours down and Reno well over 7 hours down, and #5 never arriving in Roseville at all. Strange - the Channel 3 story had a track reopening some time today, but apparently UP got one open early yesterday evening if #6 made it through. Would Amtrak leave the interruption notice on #5 because everybody was taken off by bus so the train's actual timing didn't matter anymore?

They expect arrival in Chicago only 2 1/2 hours down - so there must be some serious slack in the schedule given the Reno time. For that matter, they expect to make up almost 2 hours through the Rockies from SLC to Denver - huh? They did make up over an hour between Reno and SLC, and that's not exactly NEC track. UP must not have much freight running this weekend. Then again I've seen how reliable the web site's arrival estimates are for the Starlate - NOT, at least until they've left the last previous stop.
