a broken rail is 100% different from a loose stack of tie plates. How can five or 6 tieplates stacked on a rail possibly stay on the rail until the middle of the train. With a broken rail, it gets worse and worse with the pounding of each rail With tie plates stacked up, the pilot plow sends 'em flying, the lead truck knocks 'em off, or the lead truck derails. 50 cars back? No way. It makes ZERO sense. Unless the train was stopped and someone put the plates there at that point, it simply is not possible.
