It's true that 70mph speeds are unattainable in Niles Canyon. But in Niles Canyon the pacifics can pull the cars they pulled in their heyday. Between the PLA and GGRM collections there are a nice selection of heavyweights, 21 cars total. Below is a list with the GGRM cars in parenthesis.
RPO/Baggage - SP 5045, YV 107, (SP 5131)
Baggage - SP 6235
Combine - AE 453
Coaches - WP 315, SP 1949
Suburban Coaches - SP 2101, SP 2114, (SP 2097, SP 2143, SP 2156)
Diner - SP 10040
All Day Lunch - SP 1975
Lounge - (SP 2979)
Lounge dorm - ATSF 1861
Pullman - Gothic Peak
Observation - YV 330
Business cars - SP 121 "Western", SP 139 "Sacramento", (SP 141 "Oakland")
Not all of the cars are currently restored, some need major work and just about all of them need paint, but almost all of them are currently operable (or close to it). Look over the list, mix and match the consist of your dreams.
Remember that most of the line is on a grade with a .8% between Dresser and Farwell and short sections of 1% coming off the bridges so you will hear the pacific working hard if you put a 10 plus car train behind it.
