Actually, every time the ocean currents off the pacific coast warm up a bit, we get completely drenched, with a full blown monsoon late November thru March. And with the resultant typhoons lingering off Baja spinning moisture up the Colorado Basin, the Utah Plateau also can get drenched. The Eastern Nevada desert almost turns green - kind of pretty, actually.

The last real big event like this happened through the mid to late 1980s. I was still working trackside - got soaked every night for weeks (it did get very tiresome). Eventually, it permanently destroyed a number of roads here in Central California. It also brought rising lake levels on the Great Salt Lake, which threatened for several years to inundate parts of Salt Lake City and environs - did flood SPs Lucin Cutoff, closing it for a number of years.

But alas, those ocean currents have been cooling for most of this decade - no more rain (boohoo) - as its now all deflected to the north - flooding Washington. Seems its always too wet or dry - too hot or too cold. Can't Mother Nature just get it Right for a change! - hehe


Yea I know - Mother Nature ain't gonna adapt to us. We must adapt to whatever she does - Or ......
