Kennecott sold the #401 to Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, along with the two Alco RS-units still in Ely, several pieces of maintenance equipment, and the mainline from McGill Junction north to Cobre. As noted, LADWP leased the locomotive out to the Delta power plant in the late 1980s. Did the power plant buy the unit, or if not, who owns it now?
BHP Nevada Rail brought in the five ex-SP SD-9s, along with the 70-tonners and another Alco from Arizona during their brief tenure operating the railroad. The museum inherited the equipment when BHP broke the operating contract, and as noted they sold three of the SD-9s and both of the 70-tonners. I'm not sure what happened to the second SD-9 the museum initially kept...
