As someone who:
a) was there that day
b) fixed that broken switch
c) helped fix the damaged tender truck
and
d) certainly has NO love lost for a lot of the GGRM...
... that derailment had a lot more to do with Hunters Point's awful track conditions, than with crew inattention. Sorry to burst your bubble.
Come to think of it, I don't recall you there helping to fix that awful track situation, that switch in particular, because, ummm, almost nobody showed up to help us fix that awful track situation.
I will never cease to be amazed how many folks put the "paying fans" ahead of the volunteers who put their blood, sweat, physical well-being, vast amounts of time and oh yeah, hard earned money towards keeping this crap running. Hint: some of us don't know exactly why we keeping doing this stuff, but satisfying "paying fans" ain't high among the reasons.
