In 1969 the Southern Pacific was changed into a holding company. At that time, the term Southern Pacific Company was replaced with SP Inc., which was used for a short time. When the name of Southern Pacific Company was again established, it was for the holding company, and items from that time were marked for the respective parts of the Company. Those connected with the railroad were marked for the Southern Pacific Transportation Company, or SPTCo.
