I used to work for Beechcraft in the parts department. One of the first things I ever shipped was a custom liquor decanter with the SCE logo embossed on it for SCE's corporate Beech King Air.
I remarked to my boss how nonplussed I was that SCE's big customers were flying around drinking highballs in the air on the ratepayers dime. He gave me a very dirty look.

By the way, even as far back as the late 70's when I was living in Albuquerque, you could usually see a brown haze in the sky at sunset. This was all from the coal plants in northern Arizona/New Mexico. So LA does burn coal, just not in the LA Basin.
