From a personal preference standpoint, I hope that somehow this leads to a return of private passenger service operated by the Class 1's themselves. Never liked the concept of Amtrak in the first place, and never quite understood why the federal government didn't just provide the proper tax/regulatory incentives for continued private operations (since apparently there is some overriding societal need for passenger rail service in this country).
