Southern Pacific kept three ex EP&SW 2-8-0's in service at Douglas, Arizona until January 1959. They were leased for use on the Nacozari Railroad from Agua Prieta to Nacozari, Sonora, Mexico. The engines were serviced and maintained at Douglas and traveled across the border. I'm not sure if this could be considered "SP steam" but they were SP locomotives and were in their care. The last locomotive used was 3406.
