To me, as long as SP was maintaining them, they were in SP service. The SP had also leased a 2-8-0 which was used by a brewery in Galveston, Texas until sometime in the 1960's. technically she was maintained and operated by the brewery, but I find it interesting SP still had steam at such a late date.
