Running those figures through an inflation calculator...

Let's pause for a moment and run those figures through the CPI inflation calculator over on the Bureau of Labor Statistics website...

That $30 coach fair would run you $261.80 today, and the $43 Pullman would be $375.25.

I image the same trip run today, if it was possible, would still be far higher than these figures. But the railroads no longer have the spare equipment a lot of these early excursions used lying around on weekends the way they did.
