From personal observation, it seems like trolley-oriented people at mixed trolley/train museums don't like trains, while the train people usually think trolleys are just fine. People at trolley-only museums seem to dislike trains also. Inferiority complex, perhaps?
Personally, I find trolleys very interesting and worthwhile, and I have worked on such equipment, even though trains were my primary focus. However, I find it very disconcerting that those members (many of them very skilled and dedicated) who made the trains the focus of their interest and work were stabbed in the back by the train-haters and saw their goodwill and effort come to naught. As a good friend (and fellow refugee) said, "I'm not going to waste any more time working on someone else's dreams."
