The heavy power was used on the remainder of the Jawbone Branch from the Trona IC to Mojave which was completely re-laid in ribbon rail over the years for the heavy unit trains from the Trona works.

The upper leg of the Jawbone Branch, from there, through the Ridgecrest area, to the Lone Pine/Owenyo terminus, had a number of bridges and light rail which would have been problematic for heavy road power. I don't recall ever seeing anything bigger than "maybe" a 5300 (?) class consist on that segment toward the end of operations.
