To add to Bruce's comments, yes it is really easy to underestimate to speed of trains rolling through Finley - the Empire Builder especially. The fastest I've ever seen the Builder go through Finley was back in 1983 when my dad and I chased it on his brand new motorcycle. At one point during the chase - and I will never forget this as long as I live - we were going 103mph and the train was walking away from us! That's movin' and what a sight it was to be next to those Superliners with the background in a total blur!
I understood that were was a clampdown on excessive speed through Finley shortly thereafter, at least that's what a friend on the Finley Flyer told me. Needless to say, the passenger train still moves right along at a pretty good clip.
