Some 37 years ago, I found myself working on a system tie gang for the Rock Island RR. Which meant I found myself covered under the RRB.
A year or so later, I moved on to the "civilian" world, and, therefore, under the auspices of Social Security. Eventually the paper work caught up with me, and I was informed that the RRB would pay something like $0.39/month at retirement.
I opted for a one time transfer of my RRB account to my SSA account.
