>Frankly RRB IS supported by taxpayers--US. We pay/paid taxes at a higher rate than SS and also the carriers paid on our behalf, on behalf of each of their employees. That is to say that if a person was not employed by a railroad, the carrier paid no tax on his behalf. So all the taxes arise from all the railroad employees' labor. I believe RRB also has certain investments that generate income.
Please be more clear: the RRB is NOT supported by US taxpayerdom in general; it's supported only by RR employees and the RRs themselves.
This statement: "That is to say that if a person was not employed by a railroad, the carrier paid no tax on his behalf." while true, in the context of the RRB it has no meaning.
Ryan has been consistently and repeatedly been proven to be totally out to lunch re RRB funding. Reducing RRB pensions will have no effects on the budget.
