Amtrak Rainbow Era at Eckley July 1971

It is July 1971, the Kent State Shootings were fourteen months in the past. The slaughter in Viet Nam continued unabated and the next presidential election was still over a year in the future. With all that Richard Nixon still clung to power and Local Board #61 had declared me 4F. It all seemed far away on this July Saturday aternoon as SP FP7 rolled thru Eckley, CA with Amtrak's San Francisco Zephyr on its way to Oakland. Amtrak's "Rainbow Era" was in full bloom.
