Appears that BN lost a few acres of land with the eruption. It was under BN ownership at the time of the blast, and then given to the USFS afterwards, just to clarify things.
I thought that the timber company Weyerhaueser also had some part of ownership in the mountain at some time, but cannot confirm it....

Did any railroad bring out the plows to help clear their tracks? How did the railroads cope with the cleanup efforts on the mainlines? Did they just spray the ash with water to compact it (given the not-so-environmental-friendly ways of yesteryear)?
