For you Fantasy writers out there - if the system on this map had been done, what freeways would not be there now? At the time (in the 50s-60s) much of 280 was under construction, 101 & 880 (then 17) & 237 (including the Dublin Grade and, on 50, Altamont) were already there, and 580 was well started. When was the first Benicia freeway bridge build - with at least the north part of 680? 24 was already there - BART was built in the middle of it. So what else would NOT be there if this level of transit had been provided? Ignoring for the moment the possibility of not widening what was already there quite so much.
