Doesn't have much to do with the quality of 92 day inspections, more of a GE thing, always has been, C-30-7's would have spectacular fires too. Much more common with dash-9 GE's, fuel pressure raised as part of it's effort to meet emissions as a result even the slightest leakage can result in fires. (Also, as part of the emissions thing, engine operating temperatures were raised as well.) EVO units still have fires, but not as often as the Dash-9's. EMD's much less prone to fires, fuel lines better placed on engine and compensate for vibration better.
