Don't think that the sheriff, or his minions, here are hell bent on accruing court time; the time they spend in court on their dime. I don't know, but my guess would be that, if the "authorities" even showed up, at most they would have taken plate numbers, for the record, and otherwise just shooed the trespassers off the property.
We have a State University here, and a city park, with gazebo (great place to watch the UP), along the RR ROW, and adjacent to a storage area used by the UPRR for its materials, ie used signal heads. It is not uncommon to see, I'm assuming, students, of all stripes and sexes, with their cameras, poking thru the bone yard looking for "the photo" that will get them a passing grade in their art class.
