After reading DS attachment, I am curious about something. What sort of financial impact did all of the rolling stock that was on the line at the time if cease and desist order have on the NWP ? I was working in Eureka for a couple of years and know firsthand that there are many railcars and several locomotives stranded between Lombard and Eureka. Why didn't they get them off the line at the time of shutdown ? I don't know much about the financial end of railroading, but I do know that the owners of that equipment didn't just walk away without being paid for their losses.
