Stop drinking the koolaid and realize the gravity of the situation. There is management at all levels of the company who expect the UP 4014 restoration to fail and the heritage program to collapse under Dickens' management. It's pretty telling when managers at about the same rank and pay scale, who barely have any interaction with him at all, have scathing remarks about his character and conduct based on firsthand experience. Cronyism is what got him this job, and cronyism has thus far protected him from getting fired or transferred elsewhere.
I'm told by a well placed source in Omaha that no obvious replacement is waiting in the wings should Dickens be fired. The best candidates at this point are too inexperienced or don't want the job of cleaning up the mess left behind.
