We had 2500 Fords and Chevies in our fleet and corporate did a study on the effects of ethanol and
the newer fully computerized cars lost about 5% on mileage. Most likely the result of more complete
burn and higher inherent octane of the ethanol. In Iowa and Nebraska E10 has always been a dime or
more cheaper than unleaded. The wholesalers dropped the bulk octane to 85 so the ethanol brings
it back to 87. My new Outback gets the same mileage either way, with or without the ethanol.
