newbie fannie, you are correct in stating the Milwaukee Road had a yard behind the former Sears Roebuck building ( now Starbucks Hqtrs. ), on 1st Ave. south @ Lander. A small roundhouse ( 4 stalls? )& turntable sat on the North end of the property; now occupied by a parking garage. The yard property has just recently been rebuilt as an expansion of the BNSF Seattle Int'l Gateway Intermodal facility. ( old Stacy St. yard. ). Milwaukee's Seattle freight house, at the southwest corner of 1st Ave South & Edgar Martinez Way/Atlantic Ave., was torn down for a parking lot with the coming of Safeco Field. Bits of old spurs still visible along Utah Ave. in this area.
Regarding Seattle RR books, try looking for Warren Wing's excellent series " A Northwest Rail Pictorial ", published by PFM/Oso Publishing of Edmonds, WA. Volumes 1 & 2 are out of print, but can be had at used book stores. Although light on maps, the photo captions are rich in detail.
