Never say never. I suppose if the traffic skyrocketed in volume enough, restoring the # 1 track between Norden and Shed 47 might be a possibility. The "Big Bore" is a bottleneck and if a train derailed in it, all operations would have to come to a halt.

With the # 1 track now out of service and the track removed, UP has a huge work window to rebuild it to any sort of specifications they so desire.

Another consideration would be how important or unimportant the ex-WP is going to be in UP's long-range plans.
