I can see the public side of it, you can't have hundreds of people waiting for the next train in half an hours time while the railway runs its normal traffic. These events require another train coming along with better frequency than that. Also what about stop time and reversal; there's no loop there to hold a train which means the main is blocked. Are there any convenient crossovers nearby any more?

A pity as it had some potential but when push comes to shove, its not such a good idea.
