I knew Al Giddings a little bit as a child . After his retirement for the NWP he worked around southern Marin as a TV repairman for many years . He had come to our house more than once to fix our TV. My mother who was born and raised in Corte Madera had known Al since childhood.

When Marin county and the GGBD bought the San Rafael branch in the early 80's they also bought the property were the Marin airporter is located. This would have allowed the SMART tracks to desend into the Ferry terminal parking lot for an eazy transfer from train to ferry. Now the tracks will end about a quarter mile away. Terrible idea. Walk in the rain ,cold wind. Or take a transfer bus to the ferry? Let's see. Take a bus to the train, take a train to a bus,take a ferry to the city,take a bus from the ferry to work. Now repeat it all going home.
