Lower oil prices should increase the use of oil. People will drive more with lower gas prices. The other impact of lower oil prices will be lower diesel prices which will make truck transport more compitive with trains. Lower gas prices should increase consumer spending which will stimulate the Chinese economy. The question is will the U.S. be able to stay out of the recession that Europe has fallen into. A recession will be the thing that has a negative impact on US rail traffic.
