My point was that Amfleets are the only other thing that WOULD work on high level platforms.
Except since the platforms are designed for a maximum two car train (and due to distances to grade crossings and signal circuits) you'd end up with a F40PH plus one Amfleet car to replace the Colorado Railcar DMU - since you wouldn't be able to use Sound Transit equipment, Superliner or California Car equipment, etc.
The station platform height has nothing to do with the ADA (in this case, anyways, although I am familiar with the ruling). It has to do with the selection and design of the vehicle. Should TriMet want to go European and purchase a Bombardier Talent or the Siemens car being used in San Diego, neither will ever be an option for TriMet down the road (without demolishing every single platform and rebuilding it).
