Peter and mook ---
Thank you very much for the info., I really
should have said, "I think -- please correct
me if I am wrong." Sorry for not saying that!
mook --
THANK you VERY much for all that fascinating info!
You are a gold mine of info! I really look forward to
reading everything you post. My appreciation is both
because your information is so well-researched and
interesting and because you are unfailingly kind in
your replies to me. Thank you.
mook ---
So HSR would not use all that much electricity to run?
How much would it use per day? How much will Caltrain
use once it is completely electrified (using those EMUs)?
TIA!
(I ask because I still see a "Rolling Outage Block" code
on my PG&E bill every month, and I also remember reading
about how close various utilities here in California have
come to running out of power during recent heat waves.
That is why it bothers me a lot to see new projects that
seem as though they will use a lot of electricity being
built. BTW -- the Northern California RR Club got a tour
of BART many years ago, and one interesting fact we learned
was that, back then, BART's PG&E bill was something like
$5 million per month! I do not know how many KWH that was.
this tour must have been around 20 years ago.)
As usual, I welcome any and all kindly-expressed corrections
and info. TIA!
